There are also still some Basque words in Mi'kmaq language, so the Basque word for shirt is "Atorra" and in modern Mi'kmaq they say "Atla'i" which is of Basque origin and this was also a trade item, clothing was one of the things that was exchanged between the Basques and the Mi'kmaq. Another word in Mi'kmaq is "Elege'wit" which means "King", and the ending is a verbal ending so "to be a king" but "Elege" that is from the basque word "Errege" which means "King".
